Trench Art unprocessed photo

Two examples of trench art that I received from England

I thought it would be fun to include this photo in its raw form to the main gallery. I do have a day planned coming very soon that will include photos of Trench Art, Relics, Books and documents. I just need to get all the objects organized and crunch thru a bit photo session. In the meantime enjoy this photo.

Last time I saw a V1 on display

When we last visited the Air Zoo in Michigan I was able to grab some photos of one of my favorites. This is on loan from the Smithsonian and has been totally refurbished with a number of parts being recreated to finish things out. The inlet valve looks brand new as it was rebuilt prior to coming to the Air Zoo.

Latest book for the collection

I have been wanting this book for some time and I just got it as a birthday present. The proximity fuse is a great story and I really hope to learn some new details. Thanks

Gyro parts from Nordhausen

Well things have been pretty slow with the relic collection game for the last year but I am excited to say that these items are the newest addition to the collection. I try to make my best guess when I first see V1 parts and then love digging in and trying to find out where they actually belong on the flying bomb. Originally I though these were a part of the fuzing system but after some research I found that they are part of the main gyro and go along quite nice with other elements I already have in the collection. My plan is to group these compass pieces together for a nice family photo. In addition I am still in the process of photographing each of the individual items in my collection along with my trench art and books. If you have any questions or want to share any insight feel free. Thanks for checking things out.

American Trench Art

This weekend I got a new piece of Trench Art. Things have been a bit slim in the artifact department lately so this is a nice addition. I believe this might be postwar and made in the good old USA. It looks like it might have been machined in a shop and probably sat on a desk as part of an ashtray. What I have found with trench art is typically the relics that come from England are brass or made from artillery shells. Some of the bracelets that I have are made from scrap aluminum and those come from Antwerp. It’s always fun to get an addition to the collection and this one, more than likely came from the United States and adds to the short list in my V1 collection.

Addition to the Trench Art collection

I received a gift certificate from my brother-in-law for Christmas. This allowed me to add a second letter opener to the collection and I found out the original owners name, a veteran. I have started researching this man and I hope to find out more about his service soon.

Relic photo testing

I am testing the photo background so I can begin to share relics and trench art from the collection. The plan is to share detailed high resolution images and creat a little dialog for research. I have a number or artifacts to share and I look forward to learning more about them and sharing in a discussion.
